Spectrum Smoothie
Spring is here! When the weather is warm, I always make lots of smoothies for my family and I. This smoothie is super fun. It takes a little extra time, but it is totally worth it! Who doesn't love consuming the rainbow? The best part about it is there is no added sugar or artificial dyes. The colors are made naturally by plants. Give it a try!
Ingredients:
Purple Layer:
1 cup frozen bananas
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 leaf of purple cabbage
3/4 cups coconut water
Blue Layer:
1 1/2 cups frozen bananas
1 tsp blue spirulina
3/4 cup coconut water
Green Layer:
1 1/2 cups frozen bananas
1/2 cup fresh spinach
2 tsp green superfood powder
Yellow Layer:
1 1/2 cups frozen bananas
1 tsp tumeric
3/4 cups coconut water
Orange Layer:
1 1/2 cups frozen mangoes
3/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup coconut water
1 tsp carrot juice powder
Red Layer:
1 cup frozen cherries
1/2 cup frozen dragon fruit
1/2 cup coconut water
Directions:
Blend the ingredients of each layer one at a time. The colors will fill two 32 oz. jars, with a little extra to spare. If you want the layers perfectly parallel, then place the jars in the freezer for 5-10 minutes before you pour the next layer in. If you want the colors more abstract and free flowing then no need to put the jars in the freezer. Have fun and enjoy!
